TRACE Urban (DStv 325) has, once again, retained two Sunday Times “Generation Next” Awards and has been voted the coolest music and TV channel in South Africa by 5 400 South African youth.

TRACE Urban has been awarded with its “Coolest Music Channel” accolade for the sixth year in a row.

On Friday 8 May 2015, TRACE Urban took home two coveted awards for the “Coolest Music Channel” and the “Coolest TV Channel” at this year’s Sunday Times “Generation Next” awards, held at Sandton Convention Centre.

Now in its 11th year, “Generation Next” is the leading annual youth-focussed survey that has fast become an industry performance benchmark for top South African brands. As a reflection of the aspirations of young urbanites, “Generation Next” conducts research on various brands, products and celebrities in 72 categories to determine how they’ve fared in the youth market. This study polls the opinions of over 5 400 of South Africa’s youth, aged between 8 and 22.

Thrilled with the news that TRACE Urban music broadcasting service remains undisputed in its first-rate “coolness” factor here in South Africa, TRACE’s CEO Olivier Laouchez said: “Given the countless number of wins that TRACE Urban has accumulated over the years in these categories, it’s fair to say that TRACE Urban comes second to none amongst South Africa’s youth. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the HDI Youth Marketeers for conducting their thorough research and I extend my thanks to DStv and to the South African youth for their continuous support. We will continue to be relentless in our effective approach to broadcasting excellence and will soon take our engagement with the South African youth to the next level by launching “TRACE Mobile”, a mobile service designed by them and dedicated to them.
