BLACK PANTHER X SOUTH AFRICA AND WHAT A PREMIERE IT WAS

by

Friday evening saw the South African premiere of Black Panther at Monte Casino and what a night it was. Attended by the whose who of the South African entertainment landscape, it truly was a great night out including the coolest movie I have seen in a long long time (comments and clapping from the crowd included).

Four of the movies cast were in attendance which made it all the more special. This included our own  Dr. John Kani and Connie Chiume alongside Kenyan Lupita Nyong’o and Zimbabwean Danai Gurira. Sadly none of the male hotties made it to south which all us ‘girls’ were sad about.

Other special guests included the movie’s soundtrack featured Artists Busiswa (and new mommy), Sjava, Babes Wodumo, Anele Mdoda, Masechaba Ndlovu, Enhle Mbali Maphumulo, Fezile Makhanya, Rosie Motene, Macsechaba Ndlovu, Nomuzi Mabena, Donovan Goliath, Lira, Thando Thabethe, Pearl Modiadie, sisters Johanna Mukoki and Basetsana Khumalo, Azania Mosaka, Dineo Moeketsi and bae Solo, hot couple Liesl Laurie and Proverb, Maxhosa Laduma, Melanie Bala, Pabi Moloi, Simphiwe Dana, Simphiwe Petros, Sphectacula, Tumi Morake, Tumisho Masha and our own Hypress of cos.

If you haven’t seen the movie yet, this is what its all about:

Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life. “Black Panther” stars Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, with Angela Bassett, with Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Ryan Coogler & Joe Robert Cole wrote the screenplay. Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” is now in cinemas.
