LAUGHS & COMFORT FOOD ON MZANSI MAGIC TO GET YOU THRU LOCKDOWN

by

Finding the funny in the new normal is what Lowdown With Thomas Gumede, starting on 9 July 2020 at 8pm on Mzansi Magic DStv channel 161, is about.

Gumede uses social media memes and videos for a humorous and insightful round up of what makes relationships go around under the current conditions of lockdown and social distancing.

The funny man tackles the daily struggles with an in-depth comedic monologue intercut supported by memes and clips. Topics of discussion include how couples who can’t physically be together due to lockdown, can keep their relationships healthy, undeclared crushes that get introduced on-line, and confessions from singles on how they cope through online dates and interactions.

The show closes with couples living together during quarantine – married, vat-n-sitting, broken up or divorced, but quarantining together out of circumstance or for the kids. Gumede gets and gives tips on how to survive each other during lockdown.

Comedic contributions from the likes of Lesego Tlhabi (Coconut Kelz), Luyanda Maphumulo and skits by Leon Gumede and Sphe from the popular internet skits will make appearances.

The kitchen has become a hotspot in many households these days. This is where diets are broken or maintained, and food preparation is a national sport. Enter Celebrity Mystery Box.

This light-hearted, fun and entertaining show, starting on 8 July 2020 on Mzansi Magic DStv channel 161, sees two celebrities invited into the kitchen by famous chefs LesDaChef and Chef Nti to show off their culinary skills by competing against each other.

It’s a fast-paced race against time with a mystery box of ingredients placed before them. The celebrities have to create an elevated meal with about 10 ingredients that are carefully curated by our Celebrity Mystery Boxprofessional chefs.

For their efforts, the winning celebrity cook walks away with R10 000 and R5 000 for their chosen charity, but not before they face a tough-to-please panel of ‘mystery Tasters’.

Sit back and marvel at the fun moments as the voice over narrator takes us through the cook off with funny and quirky commentary.

Please Step In returns for season 7 on Mzansi Magic DStv channel 161. Fan favourite and trained counsellor, Angie Diale popularly known as Mam Angie, is back to fix broken relationships and put families on a path to healing. Mam Angie has been trusted to step in and remove the band aid covering simmering old family wounds and grudges with her empathetic interventions and facilitation. This season does not disappoint with stories of reconciliation and family unity fostered in the best way only Mam Angie knows how.

Nomsa Philiso, the Channel Director for Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net says what is exciting about the new shows is that they resonate with the times South Africans find themselves in.

“A huge congratulations to the teams that have been working hard to ensure that the viewer is never left behind but finds solace and some peace from what we have to offer. South Africans, and the world, are going through so much and we need some escapism from all that is happening. I have no doubt they will enjoy what we have cooked up.”
