SA WELCOMES DANCE AFRIKA: A NEW ERA FOR HOMEGROWN DANCE MUSIC

by

A new beat is rising from the heart of South Africa. Introducing Dance Afrika, a proudly South African record label on a mission to discover, develop and launch the next generation of dance music powerhouses. With a bold vision and a firm commitment to legacy-building, Dance Afrika offers a fresh approach to artist management and music production — one that’s built for global impact and long-term success.

Co-founded by Sean Barber and Julian Van Plato, who share a deep love for African rhythms and the global potential of local sound, Dance Afrika is more than a label — it’s a movement. “We showcase the best of South African dance music to the world,” says Julian Van Plato , co-founder of Dance Afrika. “Our goal is to not just ride the wave — but to create it.”

A Platform for Authentic Talent

Dance Afrika’s mission is clear: to elevate African dance music by nurturing talent through sustainable 360-degree and collaborative deals. With in-house studios at the Rockets Bryanston restaurant and club, video content creation capabilities and strategic promotional services, the label provides a complete ecosystem for artists to thrive.

From brand building and income stream development to stage-ready performances, Dance Afrika’s artists are equipped not only to make music, but to move the culture.
At the core of the label’s success is its unmatched production quality, making its catalogue not only locally relevant but globally exportable. Collaborations with standout producers like Shona SA, Candyman and Afronerd ensure each release is both innovative and unmistakably African.
