One of the greatest voices of our generation, eight-time nominee and two-time GRAMMY® Award-winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter is coming back to South Africa later this year to thrill local fans with a three-city arena concert tour.
Presented by Showtime Management and GRIZA Enterprises, the Love is King SA 2025 Tour begins at GrandWest, Cape Town on Saturday, 12 November followed by DP World Wanderers Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, 15 November and closing at Durban’s ICC on 19 November. Concerts begin at 20h00. Tickets on sale at 9am on Thursday, 24 July 2025 at www.showtime.co.za or www.ticketmaster.co.za
The Gregory Porter Love is King SA 2025 Tour is proudly partnered with regional radio stations KFM in Cape Town, 947 in Johannesburg and East Coast Radio in Durban.
“Gregory Porter’s presence—both his commanding voice and heartfelt music—resonates deeply with South African audiences,” says Tony Feldman of Showtime Management. “We’re thrilled to welcome him back and to share his extraordinary talent with fans once again.”
Porter has a longstanding connection with South African audiences, having previously performed at the Joy of Jazz Festival in 2014 and 2015. He captivated South African audiences in January 2023 with his first solo and sold-out six engagement concert tour. Tickets for all performances sold out within days of release, underscoring Porter’s immense popularity in the region.
“For me, music has always been about coming with a humble and honest expression about love and life. South Africa, I’m humbled by your exuberant radiant love.” said Gregory Porter on X while touring this country in 2023. “”Two years later, I return with my ‘King of Love’ SA tour — a continued celebration of the incredible people of this nation.”
Hailing from New York, Gregory Porter is easily recognised by his signature cap and “deep booming baritone” voice. His smooth, soulful sound blends jazz, gospel, soul, and blues is often likened to legends like Nat King Cole, Donny Hathaway, and Bill Withers. This highly talented musician, actor and recording artist is seen as a major figure in contemporary jazz music, coasting both critical acclaim and commercial success globally—especially in the UK and Europe with an extensive following across the African continent. Gregory Porter is a distinguished modern jazz icon whose soulful voice and moving storytelling have earned him Grammys, a devoted global fanbase, and a reputation as a soulful bridge between classic and contemporary music.
In 2023, Gregory Porter released his first-ever holiday album Christmas Wish. He has hosted the podcast The Hang, a conversation series featuring his famous friends, as well as his own cooking show The PorterHouse, in which the singer shared recipes inspired by his local community, experiences from touring the globe, and family cooking traditions.
