The Ultimate Braai Festival 2025 is back on 4 and 5 October 2025 at the Fire & Wine Venue in Zwavelpoort, and this year there are some of SA’s hottest music stars who’ll be heating up the stage. From explosive bands and soulful singers to side-splitting comedians, the line-up is stacked, sizzling, and guaranteed to deliver the ultimate braai weekend.
The Soundtrack to the Flames
Jasper Dan – Southern Rock Energy – This Johannesburg-based rock powerhouse formed in 2015 and quickly evolved from playing covers to crafting original tracks full of grit and groove. Led by Jamie Hendry (vocals), Barrett Cawood (guitar), Jason Eedes (drums), and Mark Kenyon (bass), their high-energy shows deliver strong rhythms and guitar hooks that get the crowd moving. Their latest single, Mama Voodoo, is already making waves—a testament to their relentless drive and dynamic presence.
Droomsindroom – Pop Vibes from Pretoria – The brother duo from Pretoria – Kirsten Richard and Kyle Joshua – are ruling the pop charts with feel-good Afrikaans tunes. Hits like Hey Sonneblom, Ek Ly Aan, and Dans Alleen have captured the hearts of fans, while their upcoming English debut, Dream Syndrome (Season 1), drops in December. Their catchy hooks and polished production underscore their status as rising pop innovators.
Ross Learmonth – Rock Royalty, Solo Brilliance
Once the powerful voice and guitar of Prime Circle, Ross has spent over two decades commanding stages both in South Africa and abroad. Now venturing out as a solo artist, his latest single Because of You showcases his song writing depth and reinvigorated artistry. Expect a magnetic performance where rock roots meet fresh inspiration.
Loufi – Afrikaans Rap Innovator – Born Jean-Luc Handel in Port Elizabeth, Loufi channels his free-spirited creativity into hip-hop that transcends genre. His 2023 album Loufi Flippen Loufi captures a unique energy, while tracks like Doef Doef, Wit Skoene, and Funky show why he’s one of the most perceptive and humorous voices in underground Afrikaans rap. Essentially, Loufi brings authenticity with a punch.
Jody Mayhew – Soulful Strings & Hopeful Lyrics – A self-taught guitarist and singer born in Pietermaritzburg and raised in Brits, Jody embarked on his musical journey at 15 and stepped onstage by 18. With eight releases to his name – such as the heartfelt Travel the World, which charted in the international top three – Jody’s music is raw, emotional, and uplifting. He blends alt-indie-country and singer-songwriter flair, offering hope with every chord.
Lungelo – Jazz-Gospel Craft and Soul, a Durban-born virtuoso, holds a BPracMus (Hons) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has shared stages with legends like Joyous Celebration, Judith Sephuma, and Sibongile Khumalo. A rare organ player in South African gospel and jazz circles, he’s featured on acclaimed albums and prestigious events like the Metro Awards and SAMA Awards. His polished technique and soul-stirring performances will eternally elevate the festival’s musical landscape.
… And a side of comedy
Because no braai is complete without a belly laugh, the comedy line-up will bring the heat with some of South Africa’s finest funny men.
David Kau – The trailblazer who put South African comedy on the global map.
Nick Goliath – The warm, relatable joker who makes every crowd feel like family.
Richelieu Beaunoir – Sharp, quick, and hilarious with a foodie twist.
Dave Levinsohn (aka The Festival Fairy) – The cheeky MC keeping mischief alive all weekend.
