CODE LAUNCHED ‘ICOURT YETHU’ – A COURT RESTORED, A LEGACY REIGNITED

This Youth Month, CODE is doing more than just commemorating history — it’s helping shape the future.

In celebration of Youth Day, CODE introduces iCourt Yethu (Our Court) — a bold, purpose-driven campaign focused on community upliftment and youth empowerment. As part of this initiative, CODE has refurbished the basketball court at Isaac Morrison School in Soweto, turning it into a vibrant, world-class space where movement, creativity, and pride come alive.

iCourt Yethu means “Our Court” — a name that speaks to ownership, inclusion, and a lasting legacy for the youth.

“This initiative reflects the heart of CODE,” says Tyrone Vieira, CEO of Pepkor Speciality.

 “We lead with purpose and invest in projects that create real impact in our communities. iCourt Yethu is about backing young people, creating access, and igniting pride.”

To bring this vision to life, CODE teamed up with Soweto-born illustrator Senzo Nhlapo, who transformed the court into a living piece of art. His work, full of local culture and bold colour, captures the spirit of the youth who will use the space every day.

“CODE is more than just fashion — it’s culture, movement, and meaning,” says Elbe Kirsten, Brand Manager at CODE.

 “With iCourt Yethu, we’re giving young people something real to call their own — something beautiful, safe, and built with them in mind.”

“We believe in uplifting local talent in every way,” adds Karla Roodt, Marketing Manager.

 “From Senzo’s powerful artwork to the energy of the kids atMorris Isaacson high school, this project is about letting our communities lead and shine.”

The court is ready to come alive with pride, laughter, and a renewed sense of belonging.

“For us, CSI is about connection,” says Geraldene Du Toit, HR Executive.

 “It’s about building things that last — spaces that feel good and do good. iCourt Yethu is a symbol of possibility for every young person who steps onto that court.”

That spirit of lasting impact is exactly what drives the team at CODE every day.

“We’re so excited to be part of a day that could change someone’s life,” says Konaye Dlatu, Social Media Strategist at CODE.

 “It’s more than just a court — it’s a place where kids can feel seen, enjoy sport, and just be themselves in a space made for them.”

CODE’s parent company, Pepkor Speciality, continues to prioritise meaningful, long-term community involvement.

CODE officially launches iCourt Yethu digitally on Youth Day — 16 June — celebrating the stories, artwork, and voices that brought it to life. The campaign invites everyone to rethink what it means to move with purpose and take pride in where they come from.

iCourt Yethu is more than a campaign — it’s a promise: to show up, invest, and keep pushing culture forward.
