Gear up for an unforgettable October! The National Zoological Garden of South Africa (Pretoria Zoo) is celebrating its 126-year anniversary, and marking this milestone with a massive celebration, and everyone is invited. The best part? Tickets to join the party are half-price all month long!

It’s the Zoo’s way of saying a huge “thank you” for 126 incredible years of community support. 

Think of the memories made within these grounds: the first time you saw a lion, the family picnics on the lawn, the school trips that brought textbook images to life. For generations, the Pretoria Zoo has been the place where people connect with the wonder of the wild. 

“Now, as we celebrate this moment, we’re not just looking back, we’re moving into a future where the Zoo continues to be a site of connection for people and nature: reinforcing our role as a modern hub for conservation, education and hope,” says Mr Leslie Mudimeli, the Executive Director of the National Zoological Garden of South Africa.

“This is not just a birthday for the Zoo, it’s a celebration for all of Pretoria, Tshwane and Gauteng,” says Mudimeli. “We have been a part of this community’s story for 126 years, and we want to do something big to give back. Our mission is more urgent than ever: to protect vulnerable and endangered species, as well as inspire the next generation of nature-lovers and biodiversity champions.  We want every person who visits in October to feel that energy and continue to be a part of our future.”

• Half-Price Admission! All zoo entrance tickets are 50% off, all day, every day in October. It’s the perfect time to bring the whole family and make new memories! 
• All Aboard the Celebration Train! We’ve got a special trackless train ready to whisk our younger visitors off on a fun-filled tour of the Zoo’s gorgeous grounds, at only R40 for adults and R23 for children. It’s a magical experience you don’t want to miss!
