The Prescient Foundation is gearing up for its annual fundraising Golf Day in November 2025 – an event that will not only raise funds for education and community upliftment but also marks a major milestone: the Prescient Foundation’s 20th anniversary.
For two decades, the Prescient Foundation’s purpose has been centred around the Prescient Group’s purpose of creating financial certainty for a better tomorrow. Through their commitment to development through sustainable partnerships, their programmes and initiatives are centred around education and community upliftment. This year’s Golf Day promises to be a powerful celebration of that legacy, while also looking ahead to the next 20 years of impact.
Partnerships driving change
The Golf Day brings together Prescient’s subsidiaries, clients, industry partners, and supporters in a shared mission: raising funds to fuel the Prescient Foundation’s flagship programmes. Proceeds from this year’s event will directly support the Schools Upgrade Project and the expansion of the School of Savings initiative, continuing the Prescient Foundation’s focus on empowering South Africa’s youth through education.
Since 2005, the Prescient Group’s subsidiaries have contributed 1% of their profits to the Prescient Foundation – a tangible demonstration of the group’s long-standing commitment to transforming lives and contributing to the upliftment of its surrounding communities, both in South Africa and Ireland.
Two decades of education and empowerment
Over the past 20 years, the Prescient Foundation has implemented a range of impactful programmes and initiatives, including:
- Scholarships and mentorship: Supporting learners financially and pairing them with mentors from the Prescient Group to ensure academic and personal success.
- Made4More Leadership Programme: Hosting summits, camps, and school visits to equip learners with the tools to lead with confidence.
- STREAM Lab at Floreat Primary School (2022): Partnered with the Sakhikamva Foundation to provide robotics, coding, and STEM education to Grade 7–12 learners.
- Reading programme in Graaff-Reinet: Empowering and supporting both teachers and learners.
- Recent highlights: Improve My School Challenge enabled learners to design and implement sustainable school improvements, while Project One Rand reached nearly 500 Durban learners to promote financial literacy and savings habits.
- CSR Committee in Ireland: Supporting a wide range of initiatives, including assisting people with Down syndrome and their families, providing quality education for young children in vulnerable communities, supporting the Lifehouse Homeless Café, and charity work that enables elderly people to age at home.
Each initiative reflects the Foundation’s belief that education is the cornerstone of long-term change.
Celebrating 20 years of impact
Nicole Pinto, CEO of the Prescient Foundation, says: “Over the past 20 years, the Prescient Foundation has been privileged to support 62 partnership beneficiaries and over 11 000 direct beneficiaries, helping them unlock their potential and create brighter futures. Every programme, every scholarship, and every partnership has been a step towards transforming education, uplifting families, and empowering communities across South Africa.”
Stories of transformation
“I’ve always believed that where you come from should never define where you’re going,” says Mikyle Blouw, a Prescient Foundation scholarship alumnus.
“It’s about what you do with the opportunities you’re given. The Prescient Foundation didn’t just support me financially — they gave me belief. Now, I want to give back and help others rise above their circumstances,” added Mikyle, a recent graduate who is thriving professionally.
Mikyle’s journey reflects the transformative power of the Foundation’s programmes, from scholarships and mentorship to leadership development and access to opportunity.
Looking ahead
This year’s Golf Day is more than a fundraising event – it’s a rallying call for corporates, partners, and individuals to help shape the next chapter of the Prescient Foundation’s story. By supporting the event, and by extension the Foundation’s broader work, sponsors will empower learners who might otherwise be left behind and ensure the Foundation continues to transform education for years to come.
Adds Pinto: “As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, the Golf Day is more than just a fundraiser – it’s a celebration of two decades of impact and a reminder of what’s possible when we work together. It’s an opportunity to invest in the next generation of leaders and continue building on the legacy of hope and opportunity that defines the Prescient Foundation.”
As it celebrates its 20th anniversary, the Prescient Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing lives, promoting equity, and creating pathways to a brighter tomorrow through education.
