NBA Africa and Old School, a premium South African clothing brand offering high-quality custom merchandise for teams and organizations worldwide, today unveiled the NBA African Original Lifestyle Collection, a co-branded apparel line inspired by six NBA teams: the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and New York Knicks.
The collection, which features premium knitwear and t-shirts available exclusively at oldschool.co.za and at all Old School stores in South Africa, was designed in and inspired by Africa – celebrating the continent’s colors, energy and cultural vibrancy by blending heritage basketball culture with modern streetwear to create a relevant feel. Beginning in April 2026, the collection will also be available at the NBA Stores in South Africa and online at NBAStore.Africa.
“Collaborating with Old School reflects our commitment to celebrating the intersection of the NBA, Africa’s cultural vibrancy and the fashion that surrounds today’s game,” said NBA Africa Director, Merchandising and Licensing, Kerosha Naidoo. “Old School has a demonstrated track record of designing original collections for some of Africa’s most renowned sports brands, and through the NBA African Original Lifestyle Collection, fans in South Africa will be able to showcase their love of the game in a new, creative way.”
“This collaboration with the NBA is a landmark moment for us as a South African brand,” said Old School Co-Founder & Chief Marketing Officer Stephan Steinmann. “We are privileged to work with some of Africa’s biggest teams and brands, but stepping onto the global stage with an icon like the NBA marks a truly significant moment for us. We can’t wait for fans to experience Old School’s take on this legendary brand.”
The launch of the collection coincides with the upcoming third annual World Basketball Day (Sunday, Dec. 21) and the slate of five NBA games on Christmas Day (Thursday, Dec. 25). Established by the United Nations, World Basketball Day is observed annually on Dec. 21 – the day Dr. James Naismith first introduced the game of basketball at the YMCA in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1891.
The NBA will feature five games on Christmas Day for the 18th consecutive year, with each matchup available live in Africa on ESPN, Disney+ and NBA League Pass, the league’s premium live game subscription service available via the NBA App.
The NBA on Christmas Day will tip off with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Knicks (7 p.m. CAT) and continue with the San Antonio Spurs at the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder (9:30 p.m. CAT), the Dallas Mavericks at the Warriors (12 a.m. CAT), the Houston Rockets at the Lakers (3 a.m. CAT) and the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Denver Nuggets (5:30 a.m. CAT).
