ICONIC PUBLIC ENEMY SET TO ROCK THE ESSENCE FESTIVAL OF CULTURE THIS JULY

by

Hold on to your hats. Grab your clocks. The revolutionary hip-hop group Public Enemy is joining the evening lineup for the 2026 ESSENCE Festival of Culture® presented by Coca-Cola®, returning to a stage where their music has always been understood in real time.

There is never a slow build with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. You heard it, and you reacted. They were in your face. Songs like “Fight the Power,” “Don’t Believe the Hype,” and “Bring the Noise” demanded your attention. You knew the words, but more than that, you felt their message.

That same energy has carried into their ESSENCE Festival performances. The moment they hit the stage, it’s instant energy. The crowd is already with them. From the first verse, it’s call and response, no warm-up needed.

Their catalog has endured because it never softened its message to fit the moment. Public Enemy says what needs to be said, and the audience feels it.

You still hear those records today because the message didn’t stay in one era. It moved with the people. And somehow, with the state of the world we live in today, it feels even more urgent than when their hits first touched the airwaves.

This summer in New Orleans, Public Enemy returns to the ESSENCE Festival stage at the Caesars Superdome with that same presence for a crowd that’s always been ready.

And the organising team is still not done announcing. The next wave of performers is on its way, as well as programming news. We’ve got something big planned this summer.Lock in your 3-Day Early Access Package now, ESSIES.
