This Heart Month, Lucky Star is inviting South Africans to become Heart Movers.
In partnership with PhatBoi Run ClubandNelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, Lucky Star has launched #EveryHeartbeatCounts; a movement challenging South Africans to collectively walk or run 75,000 kilometres over five weeks. If the goal is achieved, Lucky Star will unlock a R250,000 donation to support children’s cardiac care at Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
The campaign officially launched on the 22nd of August 2026, when every verified kilometre logged began counting towards the national goal. Ahead of the launch, South Africans were encouraged to register, connect their fitness trackers, and get ready to move for a meaningful cause.
Inspired by the thousands of children born with congenital heart defects in South Africa every year, #EveryHeartbeatCounts transforms everyday movement into life-changing impact. Each week, participants will work together to achieve a collective target of 15,000 kilometres, with every milestone unlocking R50,000 towards the overall donation.

- Create a free GiveWheel account and join the #EveryHeartbeatCounts campaign.
- Connect your Strava account to automatically track your verified kilometres.
- Join the PhatBoi Run Club Strava Club.
- Walk or run throughout the five-week campaign and help South Africa reach the 75,000km goal. Every verified kilometre counts towards unlocking the donation.
Those who log 100 kilometres or more during the campaign will also stand a chance to win one of 10 mystery prizes, adding another incentive to keep South Africa moving.
The five-week campaign will culminate on 26 September 2026, when the final kilometres will be announced and the donation presented to Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital.
