It’s 5FM’s birthday month! And the national radio station is celebrating with some major cash giveaways to their loyal listeners.

The station is giving away a cumulative R90 000 to listeners this month. An amount of R45 000 will be won across the various shows all month-long by 45 people (each winning R1000) who become finalists for the final draw where one of them stands a chance to win the further grand prize of R45 000.

The on-air campaign, urges would-be winners to enter via WhatsApp and if called by one of the presenters, to answer with the phrase “Stop, Drop and Party” to grab that R1000 as well as becoming a finalist for that big draw on 30 October.

The station turns 45 years old on 13 October and on the day, listeners can expect additional surprise giveaways across the shows.  

The month started off with The Roger Goode Show attempting to create a birthday song for the station, in the hope it would get playlisted on the station. Their dreams were squashed by Programme Manager Siyanda Fikelepi, who denied them playlist glory.

But he assured listeners the station had a back-up plan for an impressive birthday song that celebrates the youthful station. 5FM will unveil that birthday song on 13 October as well.
