KAGISO LEDIGA HEADLINES MAY OUTING FOR COMEDY CENTRAL

Johannesburg, 23 May 2013: Slick stand-up comedy will be the order of the day when Kegiso Lediga hosts the May edition of Comedy Central Presents…Live at Parker’s, the monthly stand-up gig from Comedy Central (DStv Channel 122). 

Kagiso Lediga’stalent and ability can easily be confirmed by an exhaustive trail of achievements and accolades: from headlining some of the biggest comedy events in South Africa including “Laugh Out Loud”, “Comedy Blackout” and “Blacks Only” to writing and producing runaway hits “Pure Monate Show”, “Bunny Chow” and “Blitz Patrollie”, as well as satirical news show “Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola”. Lediga was recently selected as an international judge for the Emmy Awards, a massive accomplishment and endorsement, that proves his growing stature as an internationally recognised producer.

Celeste Ntuliis a South African stand-up comedienne and actress best known as one of a top ten contestants on the second season of the reality competition series “So You Think You’re Funny!”  Ntuli has since performed at many major comedy festivals, as well as on television, radio and film. These days, Ntuli is exploring her acting career as one of the main cast members of the television show, “isiBaya”; she has also made guest appearances on “Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola” and on the third season of prank show “Laugh Out Loud. Ntuli has also featured on the “Blacks Only comedy showcase (2010), and in 2012 performed a set at the South African Comic’s Choice Awards.

Mark Palmerbrings clean and clever comedy to the table. Palmer’s ability to blend a theme or topic with one of today’s funniest comedy routines is unparalleled. His smart, sometimes loud and often opinionated brand of comedy has made him an audience favourite wherever he performs. This versatile comedian finds new material daily from the perils being newly married, babysitting other people’s kids, airport madness, the advances of technology and general social commentary on current headlines.

Thapelo Seemise, otherwise known as TIPS (“Through Inspiration People Succeed”) is a seasoned stage performer – as a trained contemporary dance choreographer, a comedian, a singer and a drummer in a church and community choir.  Having worked at the 2002 world summit as a presidential tour guide, he later (2006) graduated as a dancer and choreographer from South Africa’s top contemporary dance school, Johannesburg Dance Foundation, while working as a dancer and comedian part-time.

Launched in sub-Saharan Africa just under 18 months ago, Comedy Central has successfully lured South Africa’s top comics into hosting its regular monthly stand-up gig.  Among the many brilliantly funny men and women to grace the stage at Parker’s Comedy & Jive have been Chris Forrest, Kurt Schoonraad, Tumi Morake, Al Prodgers, Joey Rasdien, Barry Hilton, Basketmouth, Loyiso Gola, Tats Nkonzo and Stuart Taylor.
