Johannesburg – Goliath and Goliath will be turning the business of comedy up a good few notches in early 2016, with the launch of their dual-experience coffee spot and entertainment venue, Roast Cafe and The Goliath Comedy Club in association with The Venue.
Jason, Donovan, Nicholas and Kate Goliath have all been “hands-on” over the last few months with their exciting new establishment, ensuring it makes its mark as one of Africa’s premium comedy and lifestyle venues.
First up, Roast Cafe with its quirky touches and eclectic interior, opened for trade on Thursday (26th November), but will be hosting an official launch for special guests and media in January 2016. From a strong morning “cuppa” and killer brunches, to constructing your own flatbreads and indulging in artisan cocktails, the cafe promises to deliver hearty goodness from 8 AM – 10 PM daily. As the sun sets on the city’s hustle, the doors to the comedy club will open from 6 PM daily to host local and international comedy acts and music cameos.
Considering that good food, coffee and laughter are some of life’s finest things – this was a common thread between The Goliath’s and their menu directors, Niki Raciti and owner of Walnut Grove in Sandton City, Fotis Drakopoulos.
Niki says, “Our partnership with Goliath And Goliath has given us the perfect opportunity to tie food and comedy together. We are passionate about authentic, wholesome food and grew up with it being the centre of all family events. We make everything from scratch because that’s the way our grandma taught us. Our menu has an authentic Mediterranean palate with some Asian and Mexican flavours coming through here and there. A twist on the classics, without compromising the flavours we’ve all grown to love. Along with our bespoke cakes, our boutique bakery bakes all our products fresh, daily.”
In March, The Goliath Comedy Club will burst onto the scene with a bang, by launching together with The Melrose Arch Comedy Festival. Expect Joburg’s finest comedians and music acts assembled to make public audiences giggle and groove in style from the 4th – 6th March 2016.
Donovan Goliath says, “Its all very scary but INCREDIBLY exciting. For the first time I feel like I’m adulting. What a time to be alive.”
