Dipped in Pink and Left to Sparkle! #ThePinkTableProject

South Africa has launched the largest Pink Dinner Party and Cancer Awareness Fundraiser the globe has ever seen, and we call on you to join in #ThePinkTableProject and help us kick Cancer’s Butt!

Founded in 2016 by Cancer Wellness Advocate and Fitness Guru, Ryan Matheson, South Africa launched the first-ever #ThePinkTableProject, with over a 80 restaurants hosting their own Pink Table Dinners on World Cancer Day, celebrated on February 4th, 2016.

One of the key messages of World Cancer Day is to encourage more people to make healthier lifestyle choices. According to the World Health Organization, Wellness Management can prevent up to 40% of Cancers, this is almost half the cure!

With over R102 000 raised for Cancer initiatives last year, this year, we go global with participating countries geared up for World Cancer Day 2017!

South Africa we can spread the word on healthier lifestyle choices, but we need your help! This year over 70 restaurants across South Africa will host their own Pink Table Dinners on World Cancer Day, celebrated on February 4th, 2017.

Proceeds raised go to the PinkDrive highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness and Early Detection. The PinkDrive is South Africa´s best-loved Breast Cancer Community Care Giver. They are an indispensable and tangible breast cancer Public Benefit Organization (PBO) powering South Africa´s first mobile PinkDrive Mammography Unit and PinkDrive Educational Unit throughout South Africa, driving home the fact that `Early Detection Saves Lives’.

According to PinkDrive founder Noelene Kotschan, “If only 6 patrons at each Pink Table Restaurant support all 74 participating restaurants, we raise over R 45 000. That R45 000 provides income to 5 Nurses for a month. These nurses are able to go into the communities and educate close to 16 000 people in about Breast Cancer, and provide health screenings. That’s 16 000 men, women and children, whose lives can be saved through early detection. We pray that none of these people even have Cancer, but if they do, you can help save them. Imagine what 25-50 people in 70 restaurants can do…”

Online discovery platform Zomato has come on board to show its full support to the cause! Zomato has included a collection for #ThePinkTableProject on its website https://www.zomato.com/johannesburg/thepinktableproject which provides in-depth information for all restaurants in Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria and Cape Town that have taken up the challenge to help raise funds for PinkDrive. In addition the collection is also available on the Zomato App which can be downloaded for free on the Playstore.

“Ryan Matheson’s commitment to reinforce and build awareness of the fight against cancer has mobilised us as a company and individuals to do what we could to support the cause,” says Zomato SA manager, Steven Murray.

“According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), one third of cancer deaths could be reduced with early detection. In a worldwide context, this equates to 400,000 lives every year. Yet, despite its prevalence, not enough cases are caught in the early stages, therefore, such awareness campaigns are vital to educate the general public.”
