The UK’s biggest night in music, The BRIT Awards 2017, will broadcast live for the first time on BBC Brit, DStv Channel 120, on Wednesday 22 February 2017 at 21.30 CAT.

This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis. Audiences can look forward to watching performances by Britain’s biggest male solo artist Ed Sheeran, global superstar Bruno Mars, UK grime sensation Skepta as well as Robbie Williams, Little Mix, The 1975 and Emeli Sandé.
Some of the nominees at this year’s awards include music legends Adele, Beyoncé, Ellie Goulding, Rihanna, David Bowie, Craig David, Drake, Leonard Cohen and The Weeknd.

Kully Kaur-Bains, Head of Programming for BBC Africa said, “The interest in our music programming on BBC Brit is going from strength to strength. We’re hugely excited to be broadcasting such a recognised award ceremony live, especially given the calibre of performers. We broadcast two concerts by Ed Sheeran and Adele over the Christmas period and saw some of our strongest ratings – highlighting the appetite for world class music shows here in South Africa.”

BBC Brit is one of BBC Worldwide’s most successful channels in South Africa. As well as being home to global hit series including Top Gear, Pointless and Total Wipeout, it also offers viewers a wide variety of music and entertainment programmes including the recent live broadcast of the African Footballer of the Year Awards 2017.
