NEWS GURU JOANNE JOSEPH BRINGS THE HEAT FOR THE ROAST

by

There is no #FakeNews here as former eNCA news anchor and upcoming 702 afternoon drive host Joanne Joseph seals off the panel for the hottest ticket in town, the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi, airing onComedy Central (DStv channel 122) on Monday, 7 May 2018 at 21:00 CAT.

The extended uncensored version to Showmax subscribers is available from Tuesday, 8 May 2018.

Creating the spark that will set the whole night on fire is none other than one of comedy’s humorous sons, Mpho Popps, who is set to kick off the evening as the grand opening act.  Bringing glitz and glam to both behind the scenes and the red-carpet extravaganza at Gold Reef City, is vivacious Lalla Hirayama, and comedian, Mojak Lehoko.

Joanne Joseph has famously lived on our TV screens as the daily authorative bearer of all tidings for two decades as former eNCA news anchor and soon to be 702 afternoon drive host. Will she finally change her poker face and grab the moment to go off script to flare the flames?

Joseph has some words for SomGaga; “Somizi, in the absence of ever having the privilege to interview you, I’m just gonna have to settle for the opportunity to roast you instead!  I know I’m not as fashionable as you, but I’m coming armed with my best newsreader coif in tribute to you.  Let’s have some fun and I’ll try not to grill you like a ten pound steak!”

Dillon Khan, Vice President for Comedy Central and Creative Services at Viacom International Media Networks added, “The beauty of the roast is that it creates the playground for alter egos to reign free and this may just be the case for Joanne Joseph’s audiences.  I’m stoked to have comical genius Mpho Popps on stage with us along with Mojak and Lalla who will spice up the red carpet.”

The filming of the Comedy Central Roast of Somizi will take place on Thursday, 26 April 2018, at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre, south of Johannesburg.

The event is spearheaded by Roast Master, Gareth Cliff and features an impeccable talent line up consisting of Schalk Bezuidenhout, Ntsiki Mazwai, Kurt Darren, Skhumba, Nomzamo Mbatha, DJ Fresh and Fikile Mbalula.  Tickets at Computicket are sold out!
