Sandton City, supported by Cupcakes of Hope, together with renowned Cake Artist and Winner of the International Best Show Piece Award 2017 at the Cake Masters Awards; Dorothy Klerck, will be creating the World’s Largest Mandela Statue Cake in Sandton City’s Centre Court from the 24th to the 28th of July 2018. Visit Sandton City’s Centre Court to experience Madiba Magic like never before, with the creation of this incredible 3D edible art, which will tower at 3 meters tall, and depict the Father of our Nation.

Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company and public benefit organization, started by Sandy Cipriano, raises awareness of childhood cancer as well as funds for kids with cancer, by baking cupcakes with love.

HOT 91.9 FM will be promoting the Mandela Day campaign on air from the 20th to the 28th of July 2018, culminating in an exciting outdoor broadcast with DJ, and cancer survivor, Mark Pilgrim from the great cake reveal at Sandton City’s Centre Court on Saturday the 28th of July 2018 from 9am to 12pm.

General Manager of Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square, Preston Gaddy comments: “Sandton City and their owners Liberty Two Degrees, Liberty Group and Pareto Limited, are honored to be commemorating Nelson Mandela’s 100 Centenary. It is a great pleasure for us to be working with Cupcakes of Hope for such an important and worthy cause, that is raising funds for children with cancer.”

Cupcakes of Hope’s Sandy Cipriano says she is “extremely excited to be partnering up with Sandton City, HOT 91.9 FM and award-winning Cake Artist Dorothy Klerck to create this special edible piece of art, to help raise much needed funds for children with cancer.”

Nelson Mandela said “it always seems impossible until it’s done,” and we look forward to toasting to the success of the World’s Largest Mandela Cake and celebrating the centennial milestone of Mandela’s exemplary life with you at Sandton City.

The #MandelaCupcakeChallenge encourages individuals and corporates to bake, buy or donate. You can bake your 100 cupcakes and help raise R1000 for a child with cancer, by registering online at www.cupcakesofhope.org or order your Mandela Cupcakes, for a donation of R10 per cupcake at www.cupcakesofhope.org and share in the legacy around Mandela’s Centenary, and help children with cancer.

Alternatively, you can donate R1000 to sponsor a cancer patient’s monthly expenses, in honour of your own cancer hero, whose name will be placed at the base of the World’s Largest Mandela Cake in Sandton City’s Centre Court. Corporates can also get involved by sponsoring a cancer patient for a year, and in return the company logo will be placed at the base of the World’s Largest Mandela Cake in Sandton City’s Centre Court. A section 18A certificate will also be issued for all donations received.
