Being alive for over 40 long years, I believed I was blessed to not have ever personally had eczema. Coming from a family of sufferers of this dreading ailment with my two kids even being ‘victims’, I was suddenly faced with this whole entire drama this past June.

Every winter, my babies (Musa 8 and Maya almost 2) suddenly look like ‘reptiles’ when they skin become scale-like. Over the years I tried various baby products, organic stuff, ones with cortisone, you name it. They usually work for a few weeks, then it all come back, looking even worse than before. Some products were also just super expensive. We also tried the home remedies that the grannies and aunties recommended, eish lets not even go there. No solution, nothing really stuck.

Anyway this article is about me so let’s move on.

In June I suddenly had a breakout (looked like eczema, but wasn’t sure) under my breast line which quickly spread to my stomach and most dramatically to my crotch and inner thighs (all this is 6 days).

The loud and outgoing Melanie suddenly lost all her confidence. I stopped going out as much, I would wear loose items and was super conscious of my breakout like everyone could see it. I became a recluse and was turning down work because I didn’t want to leave the house. Also my husband was away for two weeks and I was dreading his return. Honestly I was just too embarrassed to see a doctor. I felt dirty.

I had seen fellow bloggers posting online recently about Eau Thermale Avène, a product that works for various skin issues that they used on their kids. Now you know many influencers are paid to post so you are never saw if the product actually worked. So when I heard the brand had just launched their new XeraCalm A.D & Cicalfate range when this was all happening to me, I decided to try it out anyway, praying this would help me. I contacted them and explained my situation.

They were super keen to me testing out their new releases and so began my journey with the brand. They sent me FIVE of their new  body products at the end of June.

I have been silently documenting the process over the month. Happy to say, it worked with whatever skin issue I had, it’s completely cleared after 2 weeks.

I am now ready to test on my 2 year old drama queen Maya and hoping for a solution for her.

We will share both our experiences with you at the end of August. So if you or your kids have sensitive skin or eczema or any other extreme dry skin issues, do keep a close eye on my Instagram TL and Instastories over the next few weeks to get an idea of the different products we are using.
