Earlier in May 2023, Dickies partnered with LW Mag to put together the first-ever BMX Freestyle SA championships – sanctioned by Cycling South Africa and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI).
Vincent Leygonie was awarded the overall win and crowned the Pro Men South African Champion in the first-ever BMX Freestyle South African Championship among the country’s finest Professional BMX Freestyle riders competing for the title at Park Lines SA Champs.
Vincent stunned the judges with speed and style, securing his South African Championship win and placing him as the first-ever contender at the UCI World Championships being held in Glasgow, August 2023 for BMX Freestyle.
Dickies is no stranger to the sport. The brand is globally renowned in streetwear sport circles for its
fit, functionality, fashion and most importantly – quality, dating back over 100 years to its establishment in 1922 with workwear inspired clothing. Born from American roots, Dickies remains authentic, uncomplicated and a little rough around the edges just like the people who wear them. “Vincent is one of those natural talents that fit with Dickies passion for authenticity, honesty, and hardworking creativity. We are incredibly humbled to sponsor and further his journey of dedication, talent and style in BMX Freestyle, a truly #MadeInDickies South Africa sport star,” says Shekara Singh, Marketing Executive Dickies Africa.
Dickies’ involvement with the sport extends to leaving lasting benefits for SA riders beyond championship events, having sponsored the registration of riders with Cycling South Africa to enable sustainable growth and development of amateur and professional riders alike.
Our champion will be competing on the weekend of the 5th and 6th August 2023, in Scotland. We are very proud to be supporting him as official sponsor for the World championships.
