IT’S OFFICIAL – OLD BUCK IS SOUTH AFRICA’S NO.1 CLASSIC GIN

by

Old Buck Dry Gin was recently crowned Best South African Gin in the Classic Gin category at the annual World Gin Awards, held in London recently. The brand also clinched a prestigious Gold award at the event, staying true its brand promise of “superior quality in every drop”.

This year’s World Gin Awards, which judges the very best products in the world of gin, attracted more than 900 entries from 47 countries. Country winners were unveiled at the final World Gin Awards judging session in London. Old Buck took top honours in the Classic Gin category, ahead of local contenders like Imagin Classic and Dragon’s Keeper Psidium Gin.

“It’s an honour for Old Buck Dry Gin to be recognised on the world stage alongside the biggest names out there,” says Brandon Govender, Portfolio Marketing Manager at Heineken Beverages.

Old Buck Dry Gin has a long and illustrious history. Since 1928, it’s been crafted right here, in South Africa, with emphasis on strength, purity and quality of spirit. Uniquely, this award-winning spirit is distilled at the renowned James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington, where South Africa’s most awarded whiskies, Three Ships Whisky and Bains are distilled as well.

With its clean, fresh release of juniper and citrus on the palate, Old Buck Dry Gin is a pure and versatile spirit crafted to be enjoyed however you choose. A good place to start is the brand’s signature serve #OBT (Old Buck & Tonic) – Old Buck Dry Gin over ice, topped with tonic and finished with a sliver of cucumber.

Old Buck Dry Gin was inspired by the beautiful landscape of the Eastern Cape, a magical place where sharing is a way of life and coming together is as natural as the sun rising over the rolling hills every morning.

Says Govender: “Old Buck’s South African heritage is something we’re exceptionally proud of and this global award shows that what we have here is world class, a tribute to the spirit of our country and its people. Every sip of Old Buck Dry Gin celebrates who we are as a people.”
