Red Bull is turning up the intensity in South Africa’s gaming scene with Red Bull Locked In, a new LAN event like no other. Designed to test skill, strategy, and endurance, the high-risk, high-reward experience blends real-life challenges, multiple game modes, and that old-school LAN gaming vibe you need to experience to truly appreciate.
Taking place from 6–8 March 2026 at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town, Red Bull Locked In is not your average LAN event. The format fuses competitive Apex Legends gameplay with real-life challenges, knockout mechanics, and multiple game modes; creating a pressure-cooker environment where every decision counts.
Four South African gamers: JULIA “BISH”, COLLINS “ItzSkarra”, TYLER “BINKZ” and HENRICO “HENRICOM”, have been chosen as team captains. Each captain will build their squad through an online application process, handpicking players they believe have what it takes to survive. Over 48 relentless hours, teams will battle to stay alive, earn points, and outlast the competition in a format inspired by global Apex Legends standards.
“Gaming has always been more than just what is happening in the server: it is about the friendships and community that we can build around those rad moments. Red Bull Locked In celebrates those moments, friendships and the gaming community and then gives it wiings. More importantly, how cool is it that we get to spend a weekend jamming with stacks for new friends in a sick venue? We don’t get many opportunities like this locally, if any, so I cannot wait to meet other South Africans who share the same passion as I do and then to frag out in Apex Legends with them,” says Sam “Tech Girl” Wright, global esports host and commentator.
With formats ranging from Battle Royale to Wildcard and Mixtape modes, and the constant threat of elimination, or revival, based on performance; Red Bull Locked In is built to keep both players and spectators on edge from start to finish.
Official media partner NAG Magazine will be on the ground throughout the weekend, capturing the intensity, culture, and stories emerging from the event, as Red Bull continues its commitment to giving wiiings to gamers and re-energising South Africa’s LAN gaming scene.
Applications to participate are now open.
