SNAKES ALIVE! ANACONDA MAKES DEBUT ON APPLE TV

by

Are you ready for a raucously entertaining comedy-horror ride? Well, buckle up, because Anaconda is slithering its way into your living room this month! Dubbed “the funniest movie of the year” by Deadline and with an all-star cast headlined by comedy powerhouses Jack Black and Paul Rudd, this nostalgic throwback to the 1997 cult favourite is making its exclusive South African home entertainment debut on Apple TV in February (to buy) and March (to rent).

Mashing up chills with cheesiness, the latest Anaconda is not a remake. Instead, it’s a zany tribute to the original creature feature of the same name that defined camp horror-thrillers in the late ’90s.

Doug (Black – School of Rock, Kung Fu Panda) and Griff (Rudd – Avengers: Endgame, Ant-Man) have been best friends since they were kids. They have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favourite movie: the cinematic “classic” Anaconda, which featured a documentary crew hunted by a giant green anaconda in the Amazon jungle.

When a midlife crisis pushes the two friends to finally go for it, they head deep into the Amazon to start filming. But things get real when an actual anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a potentially deadly situation. That movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.

Directed by Tom Gormican, the latest Anaconda also features Steve Zahn (The White Lotus, War for the Planet of the Apes) and Zimbabwean-British actress Thandiwe Newton(Crash, Westworld). Plus, look out for cameos by two of the original film’s stars (spoiler alert: we definitely won’t go cold and give you ‘cubes’ or give you the “down-Lo” …).

Distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment, Anaconda is writhing its way onto a small screen near you – so be afraid, be very afraid! Don’t miss this latest pop-culture moment, reimagined for a new generation of movie lovers and now available to enjoy at home for a family movie night packed with adventure, thrills, popcorn and laughs. As ComicBook.com raved: “Jack Black and Paul Rudd are hilarious throughout!”

Anaconda is currently available to buy on Apple TV, and is also available to rent from 4 March 2026.
