Reach For A Dream has officially launched its 2026 Slipper Day campaign, introducing a bold and humorous new concept designed to drive awareness and inspire action. Conceptualised by TBWA, the multi-channel campaign uses a playful “Fuzzy Facts” approach to highlight the real impact of raising funds to fulfil dreams for children facing life threatening illnesses.
At the heart of the campaign is a series of quirky, light hearted “facts” that are not guaranteed to be entirely true but are designed to entertain while sparking curiosity. Examples include, “Rassie came up with the 7-1 split in his slippers” and “Studies have shown that wearing slippers can increase productivity at work.” These moments of humour are designed to open the door to a deeper conversation about the very real impact of Slipper Day.
This year, the campaign aims to raise R15 million, helping Reach For A Dream continue fulfilling dreams for children across South Africa. The campaign will roll out nationally across outdoor platforms, alongside public service announcements on radio and television from 13 April to 29 May 2026.
Taking place on 29 May, Slipper Day is the foundation’s biggest annual fundraising initiative, encouraging South Africans to purchase a R20 sticker and wear their slippers in support of children facing serious illnesses. Each sticker purchased contributes directly to fulfilling a child’s dream, offering moments of joy, hope, and escape during difficult times.
The “Fuzzy Facts” concept creates a natural bridge between humour and purpose, encouraging the public to engage with the campaign while learning about the meaningful work behind it. Since 1988, Reach For A Dream has fulfilled dreams for children across the country, restoring a sense of wonder and possibility when it is needed most.
“Every day, we fulfil seven dreams across South Africa, from meeting a personal hero to owning something they have always longed for,” says Julia Sotirianakos Reach For A Dream CEO. “Through the Fuzzy Facts campaign, we are inviting South Africans to be part of something truly meaningful. Each Slipper Day sticker helps us continue bringing hope and joy to children who need it most.”
This year, Slipper Day offers South Africans the chance to be rewarded for making a child’s dream come true. By simply buying a Slipper Day sticker and scanning the barcode, anyone could walk away with a share of R2 million in prizes, ranging from data, Wimpy ice cream and waffles, Numetro movie tickets, Food Lovers vouchers, and Crazy Store rubber duckies to Biogen products, Crocs, Krispy Kreme doughnuts and many more. All sticker holders will also be eligible to receive a free Wimpy Famous Short coffee or hot chocolate on 29 May, adding an extra reward for supporting the campaign.
Stickers can be purchased from 13 April to 29 May at any Wimpy, Dis-Chem Pharmacies, Baby City, Crocs, The Crazy Store, Toys R Us, Babies R Us and Krispy Kreme stores nationwide. For online shoppers, virtual stickers and themed slippers can be purchased directly from the Reach For A Dream online store.
