“From the beginning, the ESSENCE Festival of Culture® has reflected the ways Black women shape culture across music, storytelling, media, and public life,” says Richelieu Dennis, Executive Chairman, Sundial Group of Companies. “Michelle Obama, joining the Festival weekend, is a reflection of the continued evolution into a space where authorship, cultural dialogue, and live experiences exist together at scale and in direct conversation with our audience. What happens in New Orleans during Festival weekend has always extended far beyond the city itself, and this is a major moment for the Festival and for the audience that has grown with us for more than 30 years.”
