COMEDY CENTRAL’S FAMOUS LAST WORDS ENTERTAINS FOR SMILES

by

Comedy Central in association with Jacaranda FM and in support of the Smile Foundation brings you the funniest show of the year.

Book now for the Famous Last Words Charity Gala Event  which takes place at Emperor’s Palace Theatre of Marcellus on Wednesday, 4 October at 20:00 CAT

The evening presents a culmination of Comedy Central’s hilarious new show Famous Last Words, currently airing on DStv channel 122 every Monday night at 21:00 CAT, which pairs eight of the country’s best comics with a local celebrity mentee. These expert jokers spend time with their celebrity partners and step into their psyche to discover the funny in their everyday lives, enabling them to coach their protégé with the goal of performing their first ever five-minute stand-up comedy set in front of a live audience.

On the night we will learn who the most attentive rookie and best teacher have been.

Would it be sultry TV presenter Jeannie D  who teamed up with Jason Goliath; veteran broadcaster John Robbie and his comic coach Kagiso Lediga; former Bafana Bafana legendary player Mark Williams who is paired with humorous Joey Rasdien or the enigmatic Idols SA host Proverb and his larger than life mentor Casper De Vries?

Additional pairs seeking crowd approval on the Gala night in front of the live audience will be media goddess Khanyi Mbau and her unpredictable comic trainer John Vlismas; MasterChef SA judge Benny Masekwameng with irreverent Rob van Vuuren; vivacious journalist and TV host Kuli Roberts and her colourful tutor Nina Hastie along with accomplished actor Robert Whitehead who joined forces with lovable Mpho Popps.

At the two-hour Famous Last Words Charity Gala Event, each of the comedians perform a 15-minute set followed by their mentees who stand up for a five-minute set.

Commented Dillon Khan, Vice President for Comedy Central and Creative Services for Viacom International Media Networks Africa (VIMN Africa): “We always strive to bring laughter to our audiences and place a smile on their faces. Our partnership with the Smile Foundation in South Africa is a natural extension of Comedy Central’s goal, as the NGO strives to provide health care vision for children living with facial conditions to bring a smile onto their faces with corrective facial reconstructive surgery and treatments.”

“We are honoured and grateful to VIMN Africa’s Comedy Central in their support for this important initiative and platform. The proceeds of this campaign go towards reducing severe backlog of reconstructive paediatric cases in the province. There is such a huge need for assistance in this regard. The proceeds from Famous Last Words play a critical role and contribute immensely in helping the children.” said Hedley Lewis, CEO Smile Foundation, of which Nelson Mandela is the chief patron.

Tickets cost R200 and R250 with all proceeds going to the Smile Foundation. Booking is now open at Computicket or call 0861 915 8000 to secure your booking.

No under 18s allowed.

The Best of Famous Last Words’ highlights and funniest moments from the TV series air on Monday, 9 October. You can relive the charity gala special on Comedy Central on Monday, 16 October 2017.
