SHIMZA ADDS FIRE TO TWO SA CHANNELS

by

shimzaTwo brilliantly talented young South Africans have joined the line-up of two of the country’s hottest youth entertainment channels.

First up is Denise Kopano Zimba who has been named as the latest Vuzu presenter, joining the likes of Lalla Hirayama, Thomas Gumede, Dineo Moeketsi, Fred Kayembe and Siyabonga Ngwekazi at the popular entertainment channel.

Highly regarded house deejay, DJ Shimza, meanwhile joins Andy X and Miss Cosmo as a resident DJ on Channel O’s Bassment show, adding his own musical flavour to the show’s strong mix.

“I’m over-the-moon at joining the Vuzu presenter line-up. I have been given a great opportunity. It hasn’t been easy, but I am extremely grateful,” says Denise of her new position. “I am aiming at bringing some real girl power to the channel and I can’t wait to become part of the lives of Vuzu’s amazing viewers. Boom Baby!”

DJ Shimza is also buzzed about his new role. “Being able to make use of Bassment’s groundbreaking technology to mix videos back-to-back is a great opportunity for me and I can’t wait to give music fans a new experience,” says the DJ who has won hearts and minds with his cracking sounds and charitable work.

Both Denise and Shimza bring considerable experience to their new roles.

Denise was born and raised in the North West province – and was “in love with the stage” (as she puts it) from an early age. With a singing voice that’s world-class, a strong songwriting ability and a performing talent that ensures she stands head-and-shoulders above her peers, it’s no wonder Denise has been part of the entertainment scene for some time. The sassy and playful singer first came to the attention of entertainment fans as a backing vocalist and dancer for South African urban outfit, Jozi before joining The Fly Chix. Although she is no longer part of the group, Denise keeps herself busy entertaining theatre audiences and now the Vuzu viewers.

Music is also the first love of Shimza who has been wowing house fans with his sounds everywhere from his Tembisa home base to the UK and the USA – both through his live appearances and his recorded output including on Soul Candi’s 10th anniversary pack. Shimza is also community minded with his charity event – DJ Shimza’s One Man Show – raising funds for projects in his own community.

Catch Denise on Vuzu from June 2013

Catch DJ Shimza on Channel O’s Bassment with Cosmo and Andy X Monday to Friday at 16:00 from June 2013.
