With less than 3 weeks to go to the 12th annual Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon scheduled for Sunday, 22 October at Marks Park in Johannesburg, the excitement is mounting up.

With over 29 000 participants last year, this family orientated breast cancer awareness event has been rapidly growing over the past 12 years with the aim of attracting 35 000 participants this year. The iThemba Walkathon is aimed at generating massive awareness of breast cancer in the country with the aim of increasing early detection for both men and women.

All participants are required to pre-register online at at just R135 per adult and R90 per child. Registrations can also be made on printed entry forms obtainable from participating Sportsman Warehouse stores and other registration activations mentioned on the site.

Quite importantly participants can also select additional services such as the park-and-ride when they register helping to ensure they have a seamless experience throughout including on the morning of the event.

On the day, participants have loads of exciting activities to look forward to including live performances, meeting their favourite local celebrities including the Kaya FM presenters and personalities. Also the #PoutForAPurpose lipstick challenge happens post the race, which has become a firm favourite with the girls and boys over the years.

“The more women know about breast health the easier it will be to detect any changes in their breasts, says Vicky Saunders-Flaherty, Corporate Communications, PR & Events Manager at Avon Justine. “And because the event is suitable for the whole family we encourage men to get involved too because of the roles they can play”.

Register now and support a great cause…..
